Priorities & Positions
Capistrano Unified School District (CUSD) is facing years of declining enrollment and significant budget challenges. Right sizing the District and converting from a state-funded to self-funded model requires financial expertise. As an educator and CPA, I will work tirelessly to get us back on track. As your trustee on the Capistrano Unified School District board, I will:
Linda will emphasize strong foundations in reading, writing, math, and science. Cursive writing and written note taking helps the brain process and retain information.
Linda will restore education of American civics. Teach the truth that our Founders studied thousands of years of governance to create the American experiment of our U.S. Constitution.

Children learn to love learning when inspired by teachers and parents who enjoy learning. Love of READING is key. Children must become avid readers by third grade for success.
Prioritize Love of Learning
Teach children the skills to evaluate information and seek truth. Our children are bombarded with information 24-hours a day. Children need to learn how to evaluate information, sources, and points of view in order to find truth. There is one truth. There may be other perspectives, but only one truth. An accident only happens one way. Different observers may have different perspectives, but the police need to determine the one way it happened.
Develop Skills for Critical Thinking

Ready for college, ready for trade school, ready to navigate the complexities of the adult world (insurance, banking, credit cards, loans, savings, what it costs to live, etc.

Children are the precious treasures of parents, not the property of the State. Linda will ensure parents transparent access to curriculum.

Linda will defend local control within the school district and focus classroom resources on students.

Linda will demand complete accountability of taxpayer dollars. Tax dollars specifically identified for stated purposes or geographical areas will go to those purposes or areas.
Right size the district for lower enrollment.
Establish and build appropriate reserves for conversion from a state funded to self funded school district (like Laguna Beach).
