I have been blessed to live in our beautiful community for 32 years and raise my two sons.
I am passionate about education! Children are the future of America. Every child should have the opportunity for an excellent education that provides the skills to navigate life and help them make choices for a bright future.
I have a long history of giving back and helping others succeed. I helped build Discovery Science Center, volunteered in classrooms (12 years), created “Family Night of Math & Science” and “Astronomy Night” programs for local schools (13 years), volunteered in Scouts (24 years), and taught in MBA programs.
I will bring an educator’s experience, mother’s perspective, and financial acumen and discipline to every decision.
My experience is broad: public accounting, manufacturing, cellular, retail, fast food, construction, HOAs, teaching. In my career, I saved millions through process improvements using best practices, tackled enormous fraud, launched new products to increase revenue, helped 70 families achieve home ownership, coordinated a $97 million capital budget, successfully led a non-profit through two economic downturns, and mentored many people.
I am running to become the Capistrano Unified School District (CUSD) Trustee for Area 7 – I respectfully request your vote.
My Priorities
-
Restore strong foundations in core subjects and American civics.
Enforce educational excellence in reading, writing, math and science.
Teach the truth that our Founders studied thousands of years of governance to create the American experiment of our U.S. Constitution.
-
Children learn to love learning when inspired by teachers and parents who enjoy learning.
Love of reading is key. Children need to become avid readers for success.
-
Teach skills to evaluate information and seek truth.
-
Ready for college, ready for trade school, ready to navigate the complexities of the adult world (insurance, banking, credit cards, loans, savings, what it costs to live, etc.
-
Children are the precious treasures of parents, not the property of the State.
Ensure transparent access to curriculum.
-
Defend local control and focus classroom resources on students.
-
Demand complete accountability of taxpayer dollars.
Right size the district for lower enrollment.
Establish and build appropriate reserves for conversion from a state funded to self funded school district (like Laguna Beach).
